I'm posting this in beginners, just cause, well, I want to. I took on a gig today to shoot a dude ranch. I won't get paid for the actual shoot, but I will get paid for prints. BUT. I get to spend an entire weekend at the ranch completely free (usually runs around 2200 plus food and drinks, but i get to eat and drink for free also). They just want me to document my time there, as well as a recent band I shot that is going there as well. I offered to team up with another forum member here to go with me to shoot this. It sounds fun, a free vacation and something I would be shooting if I payed for it anyway and I get to do it for free. Sounds like a win for me.

This is the website for the ranch. Its run by a family and the oldest boy won the first season of "fear factor" if anybody watches that.

This is going to sound stupid but it's a cultural thing really.

What's a dude ranch? The website links me to some kind of hostel?

Yeah, it is pretty American. A Dude Ranch is where city type people, or really anyone with an interest in the Old West can go and basically play at being a cowboy. Originally, a "Dude" was someone newly arrived out west with no outdoor type knowledge or knowledge of horses etc. The meaning has somewhat changed over the years.
