Shooting b&w in snow...?

Ah ha! Yes, that is a good explanation. So far my whites have been coming out really nice (have been using some filters in the darkroom), but then again I have not done much shooting in an environment where 60% of my picture could be white.

How about the graycard idea? Easier/more precise, or no?

i'm not a graycard fan at all, but that's just me. there are graycard fans/users out there; perhaps they can chime in.

6speed, I sugest experimenting and do some reading to get more familiar with the terms. Minor White's Zone System and Ansel Adams The Negative are the best sources. Do all the testing and learn how the meter sees.

Try opening up and try underdevelopment and get back to us with your pictures? Meter off an 18% gray card to keep your exposures consistant. You can use the palm of your hand if you don't have a gray card, just open one stop more.
