I picked up an Asus Transformer Pad TF300T and downloaded an app called Helicon Remote. It takes complete control of my Nikon D7000 -- focusing, shutter speed, aperture, ISO while in live view on the tablet. The best part is it does bracket shooting. You just select the number of shots from 1 to 15, the ev between shots from either 1/3, 1/2 or 1 full fstop equivalent. Then just press the Take Picture button only once. Now it doesnt rapid fire all the shots because each shot has to be saved to the tablet. The other drawback is, each shot is saved as a jpeg. But it really works well. Now to see how to change those two glitches. Im now looking for an app which will do automatic focus stacking. By the way Helicon Remote also works with Canon.

I have magic lantern on my Canon with that you can do 9 brackets. Its awesome but you have to shoot in Manual

Now for a powered focusing rack controlled by your pad and focus stacked macro would be a hoot....

JRE, does Magic Lantern allow you to save in Raw or does it have to be jpeg? Also can the camera save to its SD card or does it have to save to the tablet?

Yes it can do raw and u put it in sd card
I used magic lantern and did an HDR photo of a church I posted it already you made a comment on that photo too

U can set it as 3 5 7 or 9 Raws
But it only works on certain canon cameras

U are basically hacking the sd card but never the camera

I would think you are hacking the camera because the SD card is only a storage pit. With Helicon Remote you control the focus of the lens, even though manual focus is selected. You pic some spot on the liveview you want in focus and by touching it you make a red dot. Then the camera focuses on that spot. If the camera can be controlled so easily with a small app you would think the manufacturers would make it available.

No u are hacking the card
If u take the sd card out
Then your camera goes back to normal
U don't need a pad to do this

Oh the church I did with magic lantern is called
Old st Mary's u can check it out again if u want

Thanks will do. But back to the camera. Yes Magic Lantern is a small file that resides on the SD card. So what you are doing with your camera is because of that small file. But in the case of Helicon Remote, its all from the tablet and it actually takes over the camera. The card is never touhed. In fact you could do everything without any card at all which is not what I want. Id like to save to the card and in Raw.

Ok bynx
Be on the lookout for my shoot out
It's a church but this is a very hard one
