For those of you shooting models and various outdoor portraits, how do you figure out or find a location to shoot? I have a couple different local parks in mind, but Id like to expand my options. Thanks.

I think it is something you will gradually pick up over time. Old train yards, old buildings, small rivers, it really depends on what kind of shoot you're going for but here's something I've been trying lately... I stopped worrying about the place and tried to make good picture where ever I'm shooting. I thought I needed a cool background to make a good picture and have lately found with different angles and lighting you can get a good shot in any situation. I had a friend who recently had a shoot and I was like damn that's an awesome location where the heck is that, come to find out most of it was photoshopped so there's always that route too.

Any place that you find interesting, but my favorite is any place that you can make more interesting in a photograph!

I have the same problem! I waist too much time trying to figure out a location specially for school depending on the assignments I'm being assigned to.I've always wanted my pictures to look so creative like the ones I see from other photographers but I seems like I can't get to their creativity level not sure why! do u guys think the lens is a big part of it or is it somethin else I'm missing here?

go for a walk or drive around your area.... you mentioned parks - old buildings have been mentioned, but I wouldn't rule out ANY place with a bit of room to swing a camera around... Beaches, rivers, roads, near buildings, churches, street scenes can be good... Walking or driving around can uncover some fantastic locations, whether you live in the city, country, suburbs or wilderness. Think outside the square and you'll find some great photos.
EG I got some awesome shots of the GL yeterday on the way to the park to walk the dog. The location wan't anything spectacular just the footpath near a few trees and houses - the shots came out great though!
