I am going to be shooting a sunrise video using the T2i. My concern is -- the user manual suggests that pointing the camera at the sun for any length of time will damage the interior components such as the sensor.

Has anybody done this? Is this true, but more so for aiming at the sun during the day as opposed to sunrise? Is there a timelimit that the camera can be exposed to the sunrise before damage?

Page 109 of your manual says that when using Live View mode (Video), "do not point the lens towards the Sun. The Sun's heat can damage the camera's internal components."

It doesn't say 10 seconds, 30 seconds, or any other time length is ok, nor does it say what "internal components" might be at risk.
