Shopping for a new digital camera

Right now I have a digital P&S Kodak CX 7530. It is a nice little camera and takes outstanding night photos. Especially of fireworks over the castle at Walt Disney World (my favorite vacation destination). The best part is I don't need a tripod (which is almost impossible to use at the parks). I also own a Minolta film SLR. The only time I use this big, bulky, heavy camera is when I need the 300 zoom lens (at the zoo, day baseball games, shows at Disney) any other time I leave it home and use my P&S. I really don't want a digital SLR...trying to stay compact and light but I would like a larger zoom then the 3 X zoom my P&S has.

It seems to have very good reviews so far. Anyone know anything about this camera? I want a camera I can grow into.

The Canon S3 IS is nice. 10x optical zoom and Image Stabilization.
