Very nice! What kind of lighting did you use to light the water and model?

1 vivitar 285HV in a 24X24 Softbox at 1/2 power camera right at like 6-7 Feet from model

Very cool to see the drops clearly. Thanks for sharing! :)

I was surprised to see them myself! i think the dark alley made a good contrast so they shown.

Nice work, might be a tad bit overexposed for my taste but im sure thats what you were going for.

In what position did you have the light set-up at? What brand of softbox are you using?

Were in gods green earth do you find these models?

My key light was a 24X24 speedlight softbox. I dont remember the brand name but i got it on ebay for like 50$ shipped. its camera right at like 6 feet from model.
There is another vivitar Bare right behind model

And for the models, lets say i have my own lot to choose from

Beautiful pic.

Did you intentially use 1/160th to freeze the rain drops? I use 1/60-80 sometime to purposely get a little streak. But I'm a newB and maybe thats proof I am one. Just curious about it though.

Here another shot, same lightning, different outfit :P

it was really light rain, her hair lost quite some volume, thats about it

There are websites that aspiring models are looking for photographer to do a free shoot for their portfolio and they provide you with a subject just so you guys know. Anyways great job.

There's a thread on here about sites like that too. :D

Sorry to be the odd one out and hating on this :( well ok not hating. The lighting is good, the poses are natural, technically they're fine. I'm just so very tired of seeing these dime-a-dozen at night rain (or hose) shots! I'm not talking about this forum, by the way, I mean this has been over done by strobist, chase jarvis, zack arias, joe mcnally, so many pros and semi pros have done this to death! Having said that I understand why you would want to recreate this style, regardless on if you were planning on doing this with the rain or not.

I also feel what adds to the dissatisfaction to me is that this is a job well done, and I'd like to see it done better. I feel the clothing and style of the model doesn't match the visible ground (which when you consider how much of the photo is negative space, where they are standing should be an important decision.) Also the color of the ground contrasts the model in a negative way.

Take this all with a grain of salt obviously, as I tend to be harsher on those that do a better job than those that don't. I just understand how hard you worked on these and would like to see you get something out of it other than "job well done!"

Way to rain on his parade Joe, way to go!! Lol I Kid :lmao:
