Shot with New lens C&C please

I picked up a 50-200 DA while in NY this week and this was one of my first shots with it. It was taken while on the Staten Island Ferry. I did crop it down some in PP. Your thoughts and suggestions please.

This shot just seems a bit snapshotty to me. I like what you tried to do with the torch, but im not sure how well it worked in this case. The island is also very underexposed, and I would've liked to see that brightened up a bit.

^ agree. it seems like a mid ground between exposing for the background or the statue

The horizon is also a little crooked.
