I currently have the Canon 50mm F1.4 and 18-55 kit lens. I'm looking for a zoom lens that would be good for landscape and all around photography. Now, a buddy of mine suggested the Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM. Would that be what I'm looking for? Any thoughts on this lens?
I wanted to go with Canon brand but don't want to spend more than $500

I have one and like it a lot. I never take it off. The only problem I've noticed is the lens creep, which is very bad now that I've had it for a couple of years. But excellent quality lens for the price.

I have the non-OS version and love it. It's my main goto glass on my 50D and I hardly ever take it off. Lens creep is the only problem, more so when you have a filter attached but it's a small trade-off for a good piece of glass.

Thanks for sharing guys! If you're praising the lens I don't see why it wouldn't work for me :) I'll buy some tape and deal with this creeping issue
