I have a canon rebel xs. On a previous thread someone suggested I get the sigma 50mn 1.8. But I cant find it? I can find a canon 50mm 1.8 or the sigma 50mm 1.4?

It must have been a typo. They're talking about the Sigma 50mm F1.4.

I've heard that it's a pretty good lens...but so to is the Canon 50mm F1.4. I think the price is similar, or that the Sigma is more expensive. But also of note is that the Sigma 50mm F1.4 is relatively huge compared to the Canon. On a Rebel XS, the Canon would probably feel better.

While the Canon 50 1.4 is a nice lens, the Sigma 50 1.4 out performs it. There are plenty of reviews/tests on line. As Big Mike said, it's a big lens:

If you were to add a battery grip to your XS, it would make for a more stable platform for any larger lens.

IMO, B&H or Adorama would be the best places to order it.
