Upgrading some of my glass and going FX soon and have been looking at some higher speed tele zooms...anyone tried the sigma EX OS 120-300 f2.8 before? I might have access to get a nice used one, but its a little ways away, so I'd rather not drive for several hours just to try it out and find out it really sucks or something. and non of the local stores carry it, so I don't know anywhere that I can go try it out first.
if you've tried it, what were your thoughts on it?
it would mostly be used for general tele work, wildlife (probably with a 1.4 or 1.7 teleconverter at times), but also sometimes for some automotive events for some photojournalism (I'll mainly be using a 24-70 nikon f2.8 for most of my journalism work, but possibly this one for longer stuff like at the race track or somewhere that I can't get close enough)
I've also been looking at the nikon 70-200 2.8, but the added length of the sigma with the same f2.8 is very appealing since my current 200 isn't quite long enough at times (even with the DX crop factor), especially for some wildlife and at some of the racing events I cover. I figure the 300mm + 1.4 or 1.7 converter would make a nice long faster lens.
