Sigma EF-610 and 7D help

Recently bought a Sigma EF-610 DG, I tried to sync it with the camera and all (same channel and everything.) All the settings seem to be fine and the infra red light even responds with the autofocus but the flash never goes off. What gives?

This is my first external flash by the way and have absolutely no experience prior.

Yeah after just 5 hours inside the flash, the duracell AA batteries inside exploded. Well not really, but one of them leaked a good amount of juice everywhere. Cleaned it up with a swab and I put in different batteries, it works now.

I'm sending the flash back to get a new one. This flash literally guzzles batteries like its some sort of hummer. Eight AA batteries every 2 days? Yeah that's not normal.


I ordered this from accessory circuit too, if anyone's ever even heard of them.
