significance of today

[h=6]Not to take away from the significance of what happened on this day 11 years ago....but I would like to take a moment to highlight what happened on this day 13 years ago... the girlfriend became the wife. :heart: 9/11/99. :heart:[/h](this was OUR day first....we TOTALLY called dibs on it. )

My father was "expected" to die on 9-11. My wife and I were preparing, more like steeling or girding, to go and see him off on his final day in the hospital. He had been very weak and near the end of his life the day before, and when we left the nurses told us in hushed tones, "Tomorrow is probably his last day." To me, the 9-11 tragedy has never seemed very real...I was far too involved in my own personal agony on that day. We were not watching television when it happened, and so we had NO IDEA of what was going on until the events had already happened. When we got to the hospital, my dad was ENRAGED at what had happened, and having flashbacks/memories of the Pearl Harbor attack, and the terroist acts had breathed incredible spark into him. The nurses said that was not unheard of, for something like this to "bring back life" to a dying patient.

It has always been a mixed event for us..we were sleeping in when a friend called me and asked if i was watching the news. i said no. he told me to turn on the news and I asked which news station. he said "it doesn't matter". he wasn't kidding. that was maybe 15 minutes after the first planes hit.
but its still our anniversary so..cant let anything get us too down.
