Cool shooting location , take advantage of this arbor.

Shoot well, Joe

It is a simple landscape, nothing more, nothing less. I don't find the photo as a whole particularly interesting. There is a lot of green in the background and it seems to all blend together with not much detail. I think it's cropped a bit too close to the bottom step as well as the overhead trellis.

I do like the little stone wall at the bottom and the flowers are pretty. I would try getting closer to the stone wall and the flowers, try a different angle and fill the frame up with that if you can reshoot. Or perhaps a different angle on the overhang with the vines growing would be interesting as well.

Malone first comment pretty much sums it up for me. Theres a lot going on in the picture and because the arbor is shot off-centre there does not seem to be anywhere that your eye is drawn to.

I'd like to see this photo taken dead on centre to the entrance to the arbor, so the eye is drawn up into it. I'd possible want to get closer and lower if possible to get more of the flowers to break up the overwhelming amount of green in the photo. There would also be a good opportunity to do some close-up work with the flowers around the arbor as well

I'd prefer it shot in portrait orientation. That would show the end of the 2bys on the top of the trellis, as well as the timber that makes up the step at the bottom.

I'm with our sparkly member here: a vertical frame would have left the landscape construction intact, and neither bottom nor top would have been cropped in the way it has been done here. The fact that the timber of the first step is not entirely to be seen was the very first thing I perceived when I looked at this photo, and it shouldn't be flaws or faults that spring to the eye, I think...
