I'm looking for a unit to power studio lights on-the-go.
What are these units called and what names do they have for them?
Are there advantages between models?
And is there anything I should look out for?

Thanks!

This works fine for me , does fine for the most part. They did not have the bag for it then which is a cool thing. Make sure you order the 120Volt model!!! How long it last is dependent on the power level you are shooting with on your strobes.

The term Strobist usually refer to small portable speedlights. The type that are designed so they can be hot shoe mounted on the camera and battery powered.

Studio lights often refer to monolights or pack and head lights. They are AC powered, but can be powered by a portable power pack.

To which are you refering?

Thanks for clearing things up
I was referring to mono lights/ studio lights.

They are called batteries, though the DC (Direct Current) power a battery produces has to be converted to a pure sine-wave AC (Alternating Current) signal by a quality inverter.
