Sleepy squirrels

[Civchic]

I went out for my walk at lunch yesterday, and was pretty tickled to see this guy drowsing on a branch really close to the path:

Squirrels are usually scampering and running around, so when I ran into this guy a few minutes later, it seemed a bit odd, but still cute:

And then, at the end of my walk, I spied THIS guy in a tree. Somebody gave all the squirrels sleeping pills yesterday! What the heck?

Awww! I love it when they do this! Great shots, love the first one!

I so love red squirrels. Great pictures.

I love #1 and #2 best. #1 is just a beautifully shot creature. #2 I love the place the squirrel is sleeping on. Do they sleep with their eyes open? Better google that question myself. Nope! according to Mr. Googles. They have eyelids too so they sleep with their eyes shut. Maybe these squirrels are only being watchful...

No, they're not sleeping, they're just sleepy - resting. Especially #1, he let me get within 10 feet of him (red squirrels are much more skittery than grey or black), and stayed all curled up and cute like that. The black one was all sacked out on his branch, and #2 looks like in the photo it could just be a momentary pose, but he also was sort of cuddled up.

I've seen them do this midday during the summer, just sort of siesta-ing and staying cool, but yesterday was very mild. It just seemed funny.

Oh they're so cute. Nice shots. I have never seen a black one that's is really neat.
