I came across the problem of when photographing snakes on a recent trip of mine that their eyes would come back unnatural. They looked horrible. I thought the problem would be the flash I was having to use, I found that a simple fix would be a Smoke paper stuck across the flash would dim the light just enough to get the desired effect without diminishing the quality of the photo.

The result was one happy photographer. A point of interest, the flash if not covered could damage the eye of a snake, I was informed this by one of the snake experts on the trip.

When I have taken them off the card I will post then for you all.

Interesting, this it the first I've read of flash being capable of causing actual eye damage in animals - don't suppose you've any contact with that person or further follow-up info?
