Snap, Grackle, Pop ~ This common grackle caught my eye yesterday as I roved about a local marshland. There is little to consider as uncommon about the iridescent plumage of its cape plumage as can be seen reflecting in the afternoon light.

One of the most underappreciated birds...their eyes always draw my attention first. They are so dramatic.

Sorry but they're on my **it list. They come in mobs and drive the other birds from my feeder.

I have tried many time to photograph them, but can never get a vantage point that eliminates the Walmart sign in the background.

Kind of like how my older, bigger brothers would push me out of the way when I was playing with my train set and hog it for themselves. Yep, I hated that! I still wonder about ways to get back at them, ha!

Agreed, I saw one the other day and the iridescent colors standing out against the black feathers really wowed me! The doesn't always light them up the way it did that day but when it does they look awesome! I put a pic of it up on here the other day.

We have the same problem with hummingbirds. There is always one that sits and guards " his " feeders and chases off any others that try and feed.
