Nothing wrong with filling the frame! lol. Nice shots and manual mode is the way to go. beautiful shots

#2 just slays me with the crook of the wing, the slight motion blur on the wing [love that!], and that "I gotcha in my sights!" look in the osprey's eyes!

If I were a fish and somebody had such eyes (and claws) I would freeze and readily die before they can catch me!
The expression is just fabulous in your number 1
Nice set!

I had two sitting in a tree across thecanal from me. Grabbed the camera and snuck out so I could get slightly to their side so if they flew, I could get a decent shot and damed if they didn't bolt just as I was raising the camera to my eye...off into a copse of trees...Arrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I really like the first image. I feel as though he/she is going to fly right out of the screen at me. Great captures as usual.

The sequence is: Food! / Maybe not. phoooey. / Keep on looking... / But it's flashing something bright - hiding a fish? need to check it out...

#2, and its uncropped relative #1, both ROCK. Those are stellar! (EDIT: Uncropped isn't really what I meant--"unzoomed" perhaps is a better term, since I don't mean to infer that they are the same picture)

I had a somewhat similar experience this Saturday, only I didn't end up with any killer shots like that afterwards!
As soon as I arrived, while I was still unpacking my gear from the car, I saw one of the Osprey start to circle over the water and I could tell it was on the hunt--I grabbed my camera, left everything else where it was and dashed down to the water (about 15 feet away). Camera was already on the right settings and ready to go. Just as I got close, it started its dive--RIGHT in front of me!!

Well, right in front of me...and right BEHIND the stupid bush that was directly in my line of sight with no time to move to one side of it or the other. :grumpy: Missed the shot entirely.

I was there for at least three hours (actually, I was there all day, but within sight of the water for a minimum of three hours) and never saw another bird, of any sort, dive for a fish. Saw the Ospreys circle several more times, but then abort. Bummer.

I did see some other cool stuff, and IF I got any shots worth even processing, I'll upload them.

Thanks everyone! Later in the day I got several flying by with fish also! They are on my flickr page..

I love how you fill the frame, especially in the second one when it looks like he's coming back around. Really gets my interest.

CC, great shots as usual. Glad to see your favourite birds have returned.
