Well hello there TPFers,

Long time no see... so I finally came 'round ordering my Christmas gift (yeah, early, I know).

Nikon D80 w/ 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens & 50mm f/1.8

Not too bad for a "beginner" in the dSLR field?

The D80 is a good camera and you should be pleased with it. What do you like to shoot? You might be limited on the wide side with your current lenses.

There is a 0.5x converter and a Nikon 18-55mm kit lens included... I like to shoot everything, nature, people, animals, still life...

That sounds pretty good to get you on your way. The 18-55 is a good walkaround lens to start with. Those .5x converters are usually pretty much junk, but Give it a try you might find that it works for some things.
