Since I had some just like them...

Anyway, I ripped this idea off from p!nk (if I remember right) and wanted to share. I was tasked with taking an abstract photo, does the cropped version count? Thanks for looking (at my balls).

looks pretty sweet! what kind of rig do you have

Rig? You mean what gear did I use?

This was a Canon T2i and Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro lens at f/11. I held a ND filter (Hoya hmc ND-X8) in front of the lens - the filter size of the Tamron lens is weird @ 55mm. I used the ND filter because my one flash was too bright even when turned down and I didn't want to shoot at f/32. I had an OCF in a beauty dish just to the camera's right, pointed down. I had another bare flash fired from behind the magnet balls (to light up the insides). The magnets are sitting on a black 3-ring binder.

I like how the reflection of the balls can be seen in the first row and inside

A swing and a miss......just outside of the plate.

I think he's referring to your focal point, it does look like focus is off a little.

I really like the reflection of the other balls inside the cylinder. Almost looks jewel encrusted... REALLY nice!
 from me!

I like how your 2 fingers are pointing straight up!

Hand held or on a tripod?

haha! I didn't even notice his reflection in the balls! LOL

I did technically miss focus on this (wanted them on the closest magnets, on the left) but I liked that it's on the right side ones.. mostly because of the reflections (like someone else said). I might edit and post another one if I get bored.

HA! Of course everyone sees that. I swear it was just to keep my fingers from being in front of the lens while holding the ND filter there.. lol. I don't drink my coffee that way, don't get any ideas :blushing:

I used a tripod just because the framing was kind of close on all sides and it was hard to see with the ND filter "on"
