Not bad. I like the way the sun has been placed there in the opening between the branches. If it were me, I would crop off a bit on the left side of the frame; I think the wide aspect ratio is not 100% compelling . To me, the large empty are on the left side is diluting the composition.

I disagree. The darker left side of the frame controls the lighter bottom right keeping the lighter are from drawing attention away from the sun.

I like this ... but it doesn't say Florida to me. (But what do I know?) Was this just happenstance ... or did you drive around looking for all the elements of this composition?

I was on my way to our local state park to see what I could find in the fog when I saw this shot. I had to do a hard u-turn to get back to the shot and not get killed in the morning commute traffic. Everything I wanted in the shot was there, I just had to get the exposure correct. I did three different compostions placing the sun and two different exposures. F:/22, 1/125, ISO 80, D810 w/ Tokina 17-35 f/4.

Here's the thinking, Derrel: In this crop as you suggest, it makes it a traditional and very predictive "Rule of Thirds" image. Too often I find this only serves to force the eye to a specific location rather than allowing the eye a more casual approach to the same objective. I find, as in this edit, once my eye goes to the sun, all else gets left by the wayside. It's always a matter of opinion and taste.

Where in Southern CA are you located, Gary? I grew up in Glendora but later spent most of my remaining CA years along the coast in HB, Seal Beach or Laguna.

I'm in La Mirada, south of Whittier, west of Fullerton, north of Cerritos. I grew up in Chino but lived most of my adult life in the beach communities, Huntington, Manhattan and Palos Verdes. Seal Beach and Laguna are to die for.
