Some beginner pictures (Cars and an evening campus shot.)

The first two are ok, but you might could have shot from some different angle that would eliminate some of the distracting background. The orange cone in front of the car in the first one is particularly distracting. On the night shot I think it is too underexposed. If your camera was on a tripod then I would try a little longer exposure to light up some of the details.

Yeah I know the cones are a major distraction from the pictures, but cropping with the 2nd one isn't an option because I've got a D40 and not exactly what you call a telelens (AF-S 50mm f1.4). The cones are to mark the track so it's pretty much unavoidable getting those on.

Appreciating the comment though, especially on the third.

A lower perspective with the car ones will give you a more aggressive looking angle/subject.

Yah I like the second one the best.
The third has tons of potential its just underexposed.
