Here a few items I thought I would ask of how to improve the composition, concept etc. Small file size for upload.

eGret - the eGret surprisingly walked out of a small batch of weeds. Right behind it is a walkway and a parking lot. So cars and people around.
Nikon D7000 - 18-105 VR lens - VR ON @75mm
f/5.6 1/500sec

Walking around a carnival at night
The motion ones are my first attempt at capturing motion. My hand holding technique still has alot to be desired and I'm still working on it and getting better.
Nikon D7000, 24mm lens

Spinning platform
shutter priority - f/22 / 2 sec

King Tut Head
Aperture priority f/2.8 / 1/30

Lights - Spinning Ride
Shutter Priority - F/16 / 1 sec

Thanks

Your birdie is more likely a Great Blue Heron. The water on the right is not adding much so you may try cropping to either square or portrait orientation.

Thanks. It's apparent I don't know my birds past the "common" ones such as Swan, misc geese, robin, etc.
Shortly after that it took flight and lumbered away. I should have tried to capture it in flight. :(
The picture was in JPEG mode when I took the pics instead of RAW. i'm starting to like RAW even though I have to take it into Lightroom first.

Even when I know what they are I still get the names mixed at times.

There are so many things to think about when you are out in the field. Trial and error is a good thing. Lucky timing also helps.

I shoot mostly RAW, but jpeg has its place.

No need to go f22 and f16 to catch a rides motion like that. Lower that and hand holding COULD be a little easier.

still tough though.

I am really enjoying keeping the Shutter Open longer, in fading sunlight behind a walk bridge.

ooh, my 18-105 VR kit lens rolled into the creek ever so slightly while I was putting my 50mm on. It did go into the water a little, and initially it was "crunchy" but after it dried out it and seems as good as it was before.

I do like that creek shot, but I feel like it might benefit from some slight cropping to eliminate that structure on the right and some of the foreground. Other than that, it's pretty cool. And of the first ones, stable or not, I like the spinning rides ones.

I like the cropping better too, thanks :)
Though next time I'll try to get it without that branch there floating in from the right.

I like this crop better. It brings more attention to the GBH.
