I've wanted to try some photos with sparklers for a while, so this year I took some time to figure out the technical details to get a proper exposure along with the right shutter speed to capture the sparks flying. These were taken at dusk which allowed for good exposure of the subject, since sparklers really don't give off much light. Around 1/30s gave the best results with the sparklers, but 1/100s was needed to freeze the subject's motion since he wouldn't stand still for long. The first shot was a bit wider with the goal of getting everything in focus. The 2nd shot was with a longer focal length and tighter crop to play around with depth of field a bit more.
Both taken with Nikon Z6II and 24-70 f/2.8 lens
