Not sure, but they just seem to pass through without stopping. I did discover some caterpillars on a sunflower and on some zinnias but I'm not sure if they are moths or butterflies. I have butterfly milkweed in full bloom but not butterflies on it.jeffashman, it's maddening early when they won't stop for anything. Do you think they're laying down pheromone trails or something? I've had loads of sulphurs, cabbage whites, little blues, tiger and zebra swallow tails and had one or two commas or question marks come through. Few have stopped at all.
I've started 3 or 4 patches of milkweed here for the Monarchs. Some have been visiting. If the rain ever stops I'll check for eggs. Not sure, but they just seem to pass through without stopping.
