Canon 550D with EF 100mm/f2.8 lens. All on tripod or table-top tripod (yes ALL of them ;)). All at ISO 200. Natural lighting, very overcast. CC welcome.

1: Speckled globes. Like the patterns on these spherical mushrooms (though the JPG doesn't do the texture much justice). Used a fairly high f-stop on this one to get as much of the patterns in focus as I could. Fortunately the foreground wasn't too busy for that. The background is also non-intrusive and subdued - all of which emphizise the shrooms. I think the soft, diffused, natural lighting worked well here - we get fair shadowing without any glare.

2: Glowing Mushrooms. These translucent mushrooms appear to glow when hit with light. Used high f-stop here to get as much of the shrooms in focus as possible. This made the background busy so I adjusted the gamma curves to push the background down near cut-off. This allowed enough dynamic range to increase the contrast in the highlights of the shrooms. I set the camera angle to try to get some of the cup interior but mostly to show ridges at bottom and side.

3: Mushroom Stand. The "rock" at lower right is really a dead tree branch. Like the general light to dark transistion of fore/background - the shrooms pop up into the dark area allowing them to come out better. The "rock" adds balance and the lighting gives it some depth. The shrooms have interest with some damage etc. Rather like the composition of this one.

4: Grass and Mushroom. Sun came out a bit for this one. The mushroom subject gets a bit lost in the grass (moss shoots) but I did like the backlighting here. Like the COC at upper right. Do not like the distracting white "gash" that occurs at center left (wonder if clone tool could take that out?). Mushroom was filled with homemade handheld reflector.

5: Brown Globes. High f-stop again, just enough to not let the background interfer too much. Again, like the texture and patterns. We see the little holes that the spores come out (if you squeeze them).

Very nice set and lovely light, esp like the first two.
