I like! What kind of PP did you do? I would say #2 could benefit from a little less sky if you use the thirds rule...

excellent! Horizons are perfect and your composition is excellent! you have the house on 1/3 left with 2/3 sky showing. I would have moved the camera up just a little for the first one so it doesn't look almost like a total split from the middle just to get more of the sky. But still, not bad. Great job with the editing also!

Thanks for the comments guys! Basically for editing ( I use LR2), I just put them into sepia, and then for shot number two I tried playing around a little bit with the gradient tool. I was doing a photo shoot for a family and they told me that they wanted them done in front of an old homestead of theirs. Well when I was almost to their house I seen the house in photo number 2, and about had a heart attack thinking that is the one that they were talking about! Thank goodness is was not that house, I was not wanting to let them down and tell them I was scared to stand withing a quarter mile of that thing!

These are terrible.

JK ;) WOW these are extremely impressive for a first attempt or even if you had been shooting for years. These are really beautiful, well done Jeanelle.

Love the composition, love the sepia, very fine art feel....home run on these ones!
Please keep shooting and sharing, I think you're onto something big with the landscapes! :)

Ps- Got a website?

im extremely jealous now....if i was half as good when i started out :| lol great work and also i agree with others nice PP you have a great eye ....keep posting and have fun :)

Thanks so much guys! @ chadhillphoto, no I do not have a website yet, I am working towards that! I am just not real literate on how to do that, and I want it done right, so hence the procrastination! :)

I think #2 is great just the way it is. With the use of the gradient tool you made too much sky work for you.

Thank you, I was worried that it was too much.

Number 2 is the best shot but you failed the anchor points on the fence posts in the foreground. Lower left. This is the difference in composition between a good picture and and exceptional one. This is also out of focus. Youd have benefited greatly with a tighter aperture. All is not lost. That barn isn't going anywhere.

Why has no one else mentioned this?

The fence in 2 was the first thing I noticed that was a bit 'off.' pulling down a bit for less sky, which would have likely shown the foot of the fence would have been a good adjustment.

Very nice shots however. Look forward to seeing more.

Wow Chad, I went and looked at your website, and it was utterly amazing! Not only are your photos amazing, but the stories with them are truly touching! You definitely inspire me!

Sorry to go against the grain but hopefully you can accept honest criticism,no 1 is definitely soft is lacking in real definition and needs contrast added to make in more Black and White and less Grey and Grey

No 2 again soft to much featureless sky and the Pink filter effect really does not work for me

That's ok, I can accept honest opinions! That is the way that I feel that we learn the best. If everyone just told you all the time how wonderful your work was, you would never better yourself. I think that the sepia effect may have softened #1 up a bit, and I will go in there and try re-editing the image and see if I can "harden" it up a bit. I kind of like the more "dreamy" effect of it, but who knows, I might like it better your way! As far as #2, I was worried a little bit about the pink sky also, but was playing around with the gradient to see what I could come up with. I think since there were no clouds in the sky it kind of hinders the effect because it is so flat. Thanks for your time and critique!
