Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hey there,

Over the summer and more recently I spent time with some family and I took some pictures of them. Of the lot these seem to be the best.

Just hoping for some comments and critique :)

Thanks!

Flickr being finicky again I see. Your links wont work - photos are set to private.

I like them and I am glad to see someone else shooting with an a230 too! I would love to have the 50 mm in my collection. Maybe soon!

I think #2 is my favorite although I might would crop a little bit off of the right hand side.

#3 - the shadow on her face takes a bit away from the picture and she seems very centered. I might would go with the rule of thirds and crop this differently to make it more interesting.

I like #1 and it may be my monitor but I am thinking the skin tones are a tiny bit too orange.

What are you using for PP?

Thanks for the comments!

Its great to know someone else who is willing to give Sony DSLRs a go :)

not to sound peculiar but what do you mean by PP?

Is this any better comp wise?

i dont like the shadowed face either but how can you light it if you are solo with just your camera and no help, reflectors or other light mats?

that looks like rather herd sand :)

Woot-woot for the Sony's!! I love my Sony camera and I had a Sony bridge camera before I bought this DSLR. The only thing is trying to find lens/attachments/pieces to fit the a-mount. They are out there but for a photographer on a budget, there aren't as many alternatives as what I have seen for Canon or Nikon.

I do like the comp better of the edited version although she seems a bit more out of focus. It could be my eyes as they are kind of tired tonight and may not be focusing clearly. :)
PP is post-processing so I was asking were these SOOC (straight out of camera) or did you use a program to do any adjustments. Depending upon what you use for PP, you could lighten up the shadow on the girl's face as it would be difficult to do while shooting if you didn't have anything to help fill or reflect the light.

Ahhh

I see on the first picture I Just used Iphoto to darken it up a bit and changed the contrast, the other two where cropped using Iphoto but I didn't actually change anything as far as tones or colours are concerned.

And yes that sand was quite hard.

But then again Brighton is about as close as England gets to warm sandy beaches, especially because staying at hotels in Torquay is highly unadvisable

I find this one to be brilliant. Wouldn't change a thing. I love the warm tones it has. That image is worth the proverbial thousand words.

On the second one you cut his arms in half lengthwise. That's a very bad thing. Framing this with the camera in portrait orientation probably would have been more effective.

#1 i like.
#2 i don't really care for.
#3 should have the right side cropped more and it looks like you didn't use a fill flash. really need it on this one because the shadows are too dark on her.

Thank you for all the kind words :)

As far as her face is concerned is that something that could be fixed using histograms in lightroom or another similar PP or is it simply a lost cause?
