C&C per req:

1. I really like this image. I think a crop to remove the left-half of it and concentrate on the the leaves, and their shadow in the nice golden light would be great. It would be nice if there was a little more of that, but it's nice as-is.

2. A nice, casual portrait with good lighting. Watch the distractions in your background; something as simple as just turning 45 degrees might have removed that large, shiny object. Unfortunately, the image seems a tad soft; it apears that focus was in fact on his shirt collar and not face/eyes.

3. Two main issues: Blown highlights and cropped limbs. It can be very difficult to capture dark skinned people correctly, especially in bright environments, but always try and avoid blowing highlights. You can recover shadow detail, but if it's blown, it's blown. As well, watch for things like the cropped toes of his right foot. Cropping limbs is fine if you do it boldly, but not little bits, and not through joints.

4. Angry hen? I'm afraid I'm not getting much from this.

5. A nice environmental portrait, some minor blown highlights, but soft in some areas, especially the fact. Shots like this with a very deep plane of focus can be tough. Use a smaller aperture, shorter focal length and crop to the subject.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

thanks for the advice john :)

I like them. The Hen looks like it knows it is going to be dinner and is trying to keep a low profile, that's the vibe I am picking up. Not sure if that was the intention.

oh lol ....forgot abt the hen its apparently laid an egg and now its hatching it hence the 'low profile' haha it belonged to the boy and the old guy
