Something Missing (C&C PLEASE!)

I feel as thjough something is missing from these images to make them pop. any ideas?

#1 is out of focus, but a decent shot.

#2 doesn't pop because it is all midtones. There are no dark darks, or light lights. So it's a brown wash. But the focus and detail are good here.

#3 pops, and looks like a successful image to me. :thumbup:

I liked #3 the best - though it is still life, it gives a sense of drama. The leaves and background give a dilapidated feel. This image works! :thumbup:

#1 will have worked if the focus was better.
#2 does not tell anything. This may have worked better if the whole door was framed with its mount perhaps
#4 - feels very bland
