im not that young :LOL: , and iv been a computer geek since i was 5, my parents bought me an apple so i could play paint the floor, i just never got into the whole chat room discussion board thing. i still dont get the troll thing...

Hehe. I meant relatively.

There were no personal computers when I was 5 (I was 7 when the first one came out). I've been into them since the early eighties, starting with an Apple ][ (a friend of mine even built one from a kit). I've been on-line in one form or another since the early nineties; ran a dial-up BBS, etc. I remember when it would take a good solid two minutes to download a crappy scan out of a Playboy magazine. You had to be dedicated to the cause if you were going to look at porn online in those days.

The funny thing is, I can't read this new-fangled chat-speak very well.

My brain starts to melt. Never been much of a chatter.

Anyway, a lot of what's in the Jargon File deals with the older stuff that isn't around much right now. It's a neat peek at history. Like when Usenet was actually still usable.

The only good that has is when I have to generate passwords for networks. Never a whole word but some l337 words are thrown in anyways.
