[h=3]Dear fellow photographers, I have a problem with which one or more of you can help concerning the organisation of photographs?[/h]Recently I made a lot of photo's at an event, all went fine. However, someone else also took a lot of pictures with a different camera. Now we would like to prepare a slideshow combining all the photo's in chrological order. Has anybody got a really good tip as how we can sort all the pictures in the right order? When I try Windows File Explorer, that can sort by date, but not by time!?
So all the photo's still appear in random order!?

Is there any freeware software out there which could help??

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Mark

I may be completely wrong but I think the date and time are actually stored as one number which is the number of nanoseconds since a certain date so you'd be looking for a very specific function which I doubt is readily available.

This is why it is advisable to synchronize clocks on cameras to same day/time before shooting an event.

Hi Lew, thanks for your speedy answer.

However, I would think that this is more of a Windows problem as both our files are stored in a Windows readable file system with a data and a time sequence.
Unfortunately Windows Explorer can sort on the date part, but nolonger on the time part. So 01-01-2012 will be neatly sorted before 02-01-2012, but all photo's made
on 01-01-2012 will be shown in which ever random order they were copied to the disk...:(

I don't think that you can merge different days easily but virtually any software program will sort by date/time acquired. I will test Irfanview to see how it works and let you know.

OK, Irfanview seems to sort by Date and Time. It will not sort only by time so you can't mix two days and get all the pictures taken at 10:30 but it will sort any list by the date/time it was made.

It is free.
You need to use the slide show module which is accessed using the letter W from the open program.
Load all the images you want.

A.F.5 at Alex Fauland's easy to use tools and utilities will sort and then you can rename them so they'll stay in the order you want.

Hope those help.

Lew

I took pictures in St Maarten and forgot I had the date time stamp on. I am using a Nikon Coolpix P510. Can I remove this stamp from the photos already taken via the camera? Or can I remove them using Lightroom 4 or photoshop elements 11. I want to frame some of them and the date time stamp looks ugly.
Thanks
