+1

I use 2 of these and they're brilliant little units for the money.

I'd go for the sigma 610 DG ST personally. I know and trust Sigma's speedlights though.

For the money I'd recommend looking at the Yongnuo 565EX which is around $150 from many sources on Ebay. Comprehensive review here.

The LP160 is about $60 and is sold by Midwest Photo Exchange who have impeccable customer service. It also was basically developed for "Strobist" type shooting. It has 4 sync options: optical, digital optical, pc, and 3.5 mini phone. I've never seen or used the Yongnuo, but if the features don't compare and you're buying from an e-bay sellar, I'd strongly recommend going with the LP160 since a company with a very good service record will be there to handle any warranty issues should they arise.

I also recommend the LP160. I have 4 of them and love them to pieces. They are built well and have many great features.

I'm guessing that's a typo and should read $160...

Major difference between the LP160 and the Yongnuo is that the Yongnuo is full ETTL/iTTL both on camera and off-camera (although it can't be used as a master for triggering other flashes).

The Yongnuo doesn't have the 3.5mm jack - it does have the PC port.

The Yongnuo goes down to 1/128th power in 1/3 of a stop.

The Yongnuo can be used fully manually as well (including ignoring the ETTL pre-flash, like the LP160).

As I said the Yongnuo delivers exceptional value for the money...

There are also sellers offering a 2 year warranty.
