Another regular in the yard at the place I was staying in Corozal, Belize.
Although the green variety are the ones known for running across the water for short bursts (hence the nickname The Jesus Lizard), the brown ones can do the same.
I never did see that but when startled these guys will take off running on their hind legs and its just funny.

Catching a shot of one running will be quite a challenge so this will have to do for now. We called him Speedy Gonzales.

Yes, there was lots of natural entertainment there.

I also suspect the crest on the head was evolved for aerodynamic stability while traveling at ludicrous speed.
