SPENT/After the Fourth

Haven't posted much of anything in a while. Haven't really shot much of anything actually. But I went out and tried to find my "groove" last Saturday, July 5. I'm sure it's there somewhere, but I didn't really find it. Took a bunch of bird photos at a local dam--processed about three of them.

Then I went to a little place called Inspiration Point, on the same lake as two of my favorite spots (one being the dam I was at earlier), but about 30 minutes away from both of my spots. It's the place where my friend drowned back on Memorial Day and I've been feeling compelled to go there.

It's a beautiful place, and I have to say, if I had to pick the last view of nature I'd ever have in this world, it's not a bad choice:

BUT--this thread is really not about that. While at Inspiration Point, I saw a still smoldering fire, which at first I thought was a small campfire. As I got closer to it, I realized it held the remains of the campground's July 4th celebration from the night before. I'd rather not think about the safety involved in how these things were evidently set off, but they made for some interesting "next day" images.
So, while the rest of you were out taking pictures of the actual fireworks, I just waited til the next day and took pictures of them after they'd been "Spent."

Thank you for those kind words, Maria! I love writing the stories at least as much as taking the pictures, so it's encouraging to know that someone else finds my long, involved stories interesting! ;-)

I completely understand you about writing...
I've just came back to writing a few months ago and I struggle a bit with English and everything so I really appreciate when someone gives me feedback on my writing. As a matter of a fact, I think I appreciate it even more than someone saying something nice about my photography
