I have a Canon 60d and my son plays baseball. I am looking for a good lens to shoot outdoor action. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

70-200 F4 L runs around $500 to $600. Used or new. FANTASTIC LENS! Yes the 2.8 with IS is better, but for the money this lens holds it's own and then some.

Every lens mentioned are fantastic choices. If you need more reach, Sigma makes a 100-300mm F/4, and a 120-300mm F/2.8 OS (and non-os), but the latter is quiteeee expensive; and rightfully so.

For baseball outside the 100-400 works pretty well giving a nice range of coverage and still wide enough to shoot through chain link (up against the wire) without the fence showing.
