Spot Metering?

Noob questions are like a box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get.

Whether you like dark chocolate or not, you will find them in the box. You can keep trying to taste the dark chocolate and said "Man! that's too bitter" (as if you believe one day, you will find one that taste different) or you can just pick the other one you like and eat them.

After all ...... it's Valentine's day! Happy Valentine's day!

Dark Chocolates the best! Everything else is too damn sweet! lol! Back at ya, Dao!

I dont buy that. The op has the exact search phrase "spot metering". It is not like he was asking why his subject is underexposed while shooting backlit. He knows exactly what he was looking for. Noobs dont ask this kind of questions. Only lazy ones.

*rolls eyes* guys you know better than to harass other members for asking questions. Doesn't matter how advanced or basic the question the forums have specific sections made to ask these questions. Let those who wish to ask ask and those who wish to answer answer. Others may use search and some might simply lurk (although knowing Labradors/retrievers I'm betting its more cause they can't get their mouths out of the cupboard than proper lurking ;)).

Asides which many forget that Google does not perform any peer reviews on the answers it posts - this makes it impossible for new people to sort the Cambridge in Colour from the Ken Rockwells of the internet.

Dark Chocolates the best!

Charlie: For once I have to disagree with you. It's all about milk chocolate and definitely Hershey's if I can have it my way. None of the Euro flavors are even in the same category.

hahaha.. I just lost all respect for you! :-P (actually I do love an occasional Mr. Goodbar or a Hersheys's Almond bar)... But in general I do prefer the darks!

LOL!!!

*Note to self: No TPF while in a meeting*

No wonder you choose the dark lens group instead of the white lens group.

yep.. Quality over Quantity! lol! (joking already! no firebomb needed, really!)

This is a forum...if a guy want to ask a question some no here may deem "stupid" so what.
How many of your thread histories could stand a look through "way back when" in search of stupid questions.

Sometimes it is about starting up a dialogue on the subject....ya never know where it can go and what kinds of little informational jewels may come out. Searching is no fun.

If you bust a guys chops odds are he is going to be very leery about asking something else....if you don't want to answer a question then don't.

This particular forum/website has more new photographers than any forum I have ever visited, if you don't like new people asking new people questions than prepare to deal with a lot of frustration.

I agree .... we are here to help! And it was a legitimate question... that we can easily answer yet again.... or that could also have been easily answered with a quick Google or a search here. Either way, as long as the OP gets the answer is what counts. We all have different methods of teaching / learning!

I'm beginning to think this is quite possibly the rudest place on the planet. I always found that the only stupid question was the one you didn't ask...............

If I get paid to answer your questions, yes it's stupid if you don't ask. ;)

Stuff it. Logging out for good now......

My apology for hurting your feelings. :(

To answer the OP's question, spot metering is as simple as using a tiny spot to estimate the exposure for the entire scene.
