Standing Tall

It's dust. Can't seem eliminate it all. :grumpy: And my scanner's dust removal.... doesn't.

My monitor is awesome! I don't know what you guys are talking about :D

(crappy computer at work ;))

If I don't have to, I don't edit film images. It's like sacrilege to me. Gotta get it right in camera, period-the only thing I'll correct editing wise is camera error (shutter curtains being slow, etc).

I think i can help you out with this picture. See you have chosen to put your subject in the center of the frame, but there is really no context here for us to look at. This is just a picture of a building against the sky. I myself am really trying my darndest best to learn how to deconstruct scenes and make an interesting composition and i'm still working on it. Here is a very simply example from one of my favorite directors who did center composition really well. link

Unfortunately boring and flat.
No visual impact at all
Sorry.

No offense taken. Photos are subjective, right? I learn a lot more from the flops than I do the successes.

Hamlet, it is just a picture of a building against a sky. Was trying my hand at minimalism-works some ways better than others, I suppose.

I see what you mean. I've thought about this composition and thought about how it would look more interesting. You could put your camera on a long exposure to get some more interesting clouds and you could stand in front to the left or right of the camera out of focus looking up at the building as a silhouette. There is a lot of interesting things you could do with this shot.

Minimalistic images are very difficult. There is half a step from an unconditional success to an epic failure. And there is nothing in between.
