This was my first attempt at shooting stars, comments and critiques welcome.

The stars and clouds are neat, but the building has a watermark(!) on it and is severely overexposed. The two fences are distracting, as well. This could be a really good image if you could turn off whatever is lighting that building, or else reduce the exposure significantly, and frame the two fences out of the image (or leave them in deep shadow). In other words, some reddish brick against a starry sky might be really cool.

I liked it...yet the brightness of the house locks one's eyes there and may not go to view the sky expecting to see something there, unless your caption was there to direct

I agree, the sky is the best element, keep the house, but just make it less of a viewpoint
