First trip out with the 600mm f4, with a D700 gripped went well, had one scary moment where the lens was unbalanced and so dropped dramatically when I let go of it. Heart was thumping after that!

This picture is currently featured on the BBC website, which is always a bonus.

Today marked my first real sit in session with my gear, went down early this morning and setup my gear, whilst trying to keep myself warm and dry. Got 240 shots in a 4 hour period and about 10 minutes of video, which I'm just putting together.

I hate you now -- I just want you to know that

;)

Looks great - but now get some camo lencoats on that black monster (or at least a big welly sock! )

Man I'm jealous! I definitely wish I had that big of a telephoto lens. The longest I can go right now is 200mm. :(

thumbup!!!

Gotta' be careful with big glass when it slips unexpectedly...a few years back I was using a borrowed 500mm f/4.5 EOS lens, and actually strained the muscles in my left shoulder when it kinda' slipped on me as I was shooting hand-held without a monopod...those 13 and 14 pound lenses can be a real bear to wrassle with!

Great gear set up ..your on your way . We will be anticipating your excellent shots from here on out .;)

Nice shots! love the duckling picture.

On a side note: Jesus! that thing looks like a 50Cal Sniper rifle , be very careful lol

Look at you with your big fancy lens and your big fancy BBC and your big fancy pants. There's no need to show off you know! ;)

I hate you too!

Were those hand-held?

If you left your gear on the ground here it'd get snatched right quick ;)

you think you can do some nice moon pictures with that telescope.

Were those hand-held?

haha, no way, its on a Gitzo tripod with a Wimberley Head.

Its a full moon this weekend, but I will be sadly away abroad, so won't be able to get some shots!

Nice set.....My fellow Nikonian!

Cheers ED,

Went to another spot today but the river is flooded and so nothing was about. Found signs of Dippers and Kingfishers though. Going to buy a hide and lens coat to try and get a bit closer!
