I really like the shot but...
how is that advocating not drinking and driving?
to me it says "this drink and keys go together"

oh oh, i know!
combine your pic with my thread here!

really though, that shot is very nicely done!

Yeah. i'm afraid I have to agree. I'm getting "How about another drink for the road"

Sorry, but I'm getting the same message. Maybe if it were a broken glass or something to emphasize the danger involved?

yes this. We need to be more concerned with how much drink we spill.

I actually think it's a strong stock image. By combining it with different text you can shade the meaning any way you like.

Remember, this is stock. It's not supposed to be a standalone image.

Plenty of space to overlay text at the top, but the bottom edge brings the spotlight's white beam area too close to the edge of the frame, with not much space. This also would look good framed as a vertical, since many PSA type ads will be printed, and a vertical composition makes much more sense, and would allow two ample-sized black areas, one above, one below, into which to drop text. You could enlarge the canvas in PS and paste in the additional black area at the bottom.

I really like the way the keys are reflected in the side of the glass.

Still; I think it's not a bad idea to try to project who one's potential customers are as a way to refine the finished image.

So if several people have opined that the image sends the wrong (as in; opposite) signal, then a change would be in order.

OK, putting aside whether it sends the right message or not (a lot of that will depend on the text the customer decides to use) ... how's this one?

For me, I like the first one better. IMO, it is a better composition, with better balance, better color, better light. Second one is nice, but not as dramatic as the first.

Does a vignette add anything to this?

This shows what is (IMO) the main problem with stock photography. You're shooting commercial images for an unknown client with an unknown message for an unknown product. Both of these are good, strong images from a technical standpoint, but are they good images? No one can tell...

I like the first one the best. I know you moved away from it now, but I also like the idea of a broken glass. Or if you have the resources....A drink on the dashboard, with police lights through the windshield :)
