Stock flash vs After Market

- In a situation that the environment doesn't has enough light or the subject is very dark (due to not enough light fall onto the subject or high contrast environment), pop-up flash can help.
- There are ways to make the pop-up flash better, but it still have limitations. Hot shoes flash solve some of the issues.
- I think google "hot shoe flash vs pop-up flash" should give you more reading materials.
- I suggest you try using the pop-up flash and see what you do not like about the result. Then search around and see if there is a way to improve the result without getting a hot shoe flash or see if a hot shoe flash can give you a better result.

Easy on the tempers all!

VI - careful with your choice of language, esp to newer members of the site.
Ballistics - similar point to mind your language on the site

Now lets all get on without me having to lock this thread!

Temper? Language? I'm not angry at anything and I didn't see anything the profanity filter would have blocked or anything that hasn't been posted by other members.

For starters, Don't tell me to Shut the f*ck up. I am asking questions. I fought for that freedom, so before you go and tell people to STFU, mind yourself and where that right has come from.

Let me express to you how much I care about your preference of specificity...

...that should about do it.

I don't see where I am stuck on using a pop-up vs an external flash. Obviously I recognize the requirement, being that I asked why there is one. As for your ridiculously cliche' response of "If he googled it"... Googled what exactly? Google doesn't do the searching for you. You have to have a node of knowledge in a subject in order to successfully find something. Hence why they have stickies in the forum, which I haven't found one pertaining to flashes that actually answers my question.

Furthermore, I ask questions here, because direction is found here. But this is a thread more about inquisition than anything else. For me, the inquisition sparks the material for my own research. But my turn to be cliche': If you don't like it, don't respond. It really is that easy.

There is nothing you are going to do that is going to change the fact that people are going to ask easily googled questions. No matter how much you kick and scream and cry about it, it will always happen. Instead of being a little girl about it, a simple "Here's a good read: Link". It will save you a lot of heartache in the future.

Learn some couth, and then get back to me.

Hi there guy. Noticed the portion that was bolded? Well, I have a link that proves otherwise.

Let me google that for you

That link there will have Google search for pop up vs external flash and provide you with nifty little links that will give you a basis of knowledge that will let you ask questions that haven't already been asked a million times in this forum and that have answers that can be easily found by using the search function on this forum. If you have any issues using your interwebs correctly, let me know and I'll get you a Google search on "using my interwebs correctly". It's a slow day at work, so I can help you learn the basics of searching if necessary.

So, STFU and read this:

Whilst I'm sure you didn't mean it to be directly offensive, the manner of the post and the use of the commonly understood acronym can be seen as more offensive/dismissive to those newer to the site. Again its a case of pitching your choice of language and structure toward your target audience.

1) Google results do require some level of self filtering of the results in order to cherry pick out the best info. Considering that nearly all our members find the site through google they are quite capable of using the tool to some extent; however many (esp newer ones) lack the understanding to filter the results - to know which are just sensationalist popular results and which are good indepth and wholesome (remember Ken Rockwell gets a very high ranking in google and yet many consider his advice very specific toward only his style of shooting and not good generalist advice for newer photographers).

2) If everyone googled only we wouldn't have much of a site. We have a beginners section for beginners questions - of people don't want to answer because its been asked 10001 times before then - they just have to not reply and the world keeps spinning.

Water under the bridge.

Ballistics,
you might also try checking out this website that someone here at TPF posted a few weeks ago: Welcome to Strobox - Create, Share, Learn

The site has photos submitted by users that use different lighting setups. Along with each photo, detailed info on the lighting equipment and placement is provided so you know exactly how the photographer staged the photograph. By looking at some of the photographs along with the lighting setup, you should be able to get a very good idea of how placement and direction of light can effect the photograph. Most also give info on any types of light modifiers that might have been used such as a diffuser, snoot, or color filter.

Enjoy and good luck!
