Stranger than Thou

I took this some time ago while wandering around a local yachting event here in the Uk. Something struck me about the difference between these two men and the quirkiness, so I shot it. I wish I had done it in portrait, not sure why I didn't, but here it is anyways. Shot with a Nikon f60.

And could they possibly be father and son?
Did you ask, do you now know better who they are? After you had taken their photo?
And maybe you did not take a vertical photo because without pushing them closer together you wouldn't have been able to fit them into your frame?

I don't think I ever asked who they are as I am not very good with my social skills, aspergers etc. They saw me with my camera and struck a pose for me, I thanked them, smiled and walked onto my next shot lol. I imagine that yes, I couldn't fit them both in on portrait as there was limited space between them and the sea since this was on the esplanade. I like the shot as I like the pattern behind them and the colours.
