STREAM-SIDE THOUGHTS
As I wandered the New England woodlands behind our home yesterday, I took pause to sit and observe a small pool on a native trout stream I have spent many times angling upon. I listened to the natural song of the splashing and bubbling of a tiny falls as the waters churned against the stone strewn bottom. The highly oxygenated waters effervesced as light and shadow danced before my eyes. Icy fingers dangling like stalactites from a fallen tree were suspended just above the surface of the swiftly moving waters. My mind's eye was drawn to the world below the surface and the gem-like brook trout I envisioned darting back and forth in the swirling currents. I know these waters where Brookies dwell, and love them for their natural rhythms.
