I would have preferred little more DOF on the two boys, but overall that is a fantastic candid people shot.

Very nice journalistic capture. The very shallow DOF is a bit distracting ... almost looks like it was taken with a LensBaby.

This version is altered in Snapseed, I originally posted this on my Instagram, I was just playing around with the Blur setting on Snapseed and was trying to put the focus on the boys faces so I blurred out the rest of the photo. I do have another version that was not altered. I'll pull it up on my old laptop where I have it stored on the hard drive and post that one as well

Here is the original photo that I took, this was taken with my P&S Canon SX50HS, I opted to leave my DSLR at home during this trip as it was a work trip to Kenya and I was there for 6 weeks and did not want to lug around my DSLR. The photo was not taken with optimal settings though, we attracted quite a bit of attraction when we were outside of the refugee camp because we had two cars of armed escorts following us everywhere, so when I took the photo the camera was actually around my neck and I tried to take photos without attracting more attention to our group. If someone can work this photo a bit better in their processing program please feel free to try it out, I'm still not very advanced in LR and I basically converted the color photo to B&W and then tried to get it to look the best I could, but my B&W processing skills are in need of work.
