strobing flash

Hi all

I have a Canon 7D and recently got a canon speedlite 430ex II but i can not get it to strobe. The onboard flash gets to strobe, but not the speedlite. If i connect it to the camera i do not get the multiflash option and if I set it as a slave and set the camera up for multiflas it disables my wireless function.

Any ideas

Are you talking about High Speed Sync mode? If it is indeed HSS you're trying to accomplish, it can only be done in a TTL mode, so read your manual on your camera and figure out how to enable wireless TTL communication between the 7D and your 430 and it should work.

Are you perhaps talking about when the flash strobes repeatedly for AF assist?
