Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
HI, I am a photographer that is wanting to get more into more newborn portraits but inside their home considering its cold outside. I also, want to open my own studio for newborn portraits and a home base for my outdoor photography. With that being said, I am looking for a good portable studio lighting kit that will get that job done without me spending a pretty penny, yet something that is going to be good for my business. Their are so many options and I felt very overwhelmed at the camera store today. Need some help and some insight PLEASE!!!!

Thank you,
Melissa Wilson

As you've probably discovered by now, in photography those two notions are generally mutually exclusive. I guess it help to know what your price point is. Are you looking for something like ebay bargain lights, Briese lighting or something in between?

I like Photogenic lights

How much lighting experience do you have? I'm guessing by your question, it would be minimal. Start with one light, a couple of reflectors and diffusers. If you go with hotshoe flashes, there are modifiers that are made for them (softboxes, honeycomb grids, snoots etc.) Get very confident and consistent with the one light in multiple situations. Expand to multiple lights when ready.

Monolights will provide more diversity, but they (generally) will also require more expensive modifiers, light stands, boom arms and power sources.

Flash photography ain't a cheap thing to get into, but it is fun and rewarding.
