Studio Lighting

At school, I did some studio lighting and produced this photos Feedback appreciated

What was your lighting set up? #2 seems out of focus a little bit to me. (Possibly my contacts)

Why are #1 and #2 over to the side so much. For portraits, centering is fine... you don't need the Rule of Thirds for portraits like this (guessing that is why they are to the side?)

#1 and #2 also have very slow shutter speeds... to slow for handheld (did you use a tripod?) #2 is soft.. looks like missed focus, but could be movement due to slow shutter speed. Assuming that was a Constant Light (CFL or incandescent?) .. WB is off also.

Does your instructor give feedback? What was said in class about these shots?

#'s 1 & 2 you missed the frame. #2 white balance is off, the DOF is too shallow, and the light is too low for my taste.

#3 doesn't speak to me.

At the school house rules can't be broken, anywhere else the rules produce mundane boring crap hehe

I like the concept of #3. I would definitely explore it more. Very creative.
