Does anyone know what this is or how to get rid of it? I asked Photogenic a couple of years ago but they do not know what it is. I took the two I have to a recommended service person. He opened up the lights and assured me they were safe to use and that nothing was leaking out of them. Still, I would like some answers. Anyone know about this or had this happen to them?

The white stuff on the casing....on the left side, not much on the right side.

Blahgh!!! How is that even possible??? Better yet any ideas on getting rid of it? It’s dry flaky stuff.

Check out the Phillips screws, they are heavily rusted. Therefore, I'd surmise the grey is corrosion if the black case is metal. Remember aluminum also corrodes.

mold or corrosion? hard to tell if that is aluminum or hard PVC type plastic..if it is plastic-like, perhaps it is breakdown..if it is a metal, I would wager it's light corrosion.. does not look like it will affect functionality...

I looked at this photo again and it is still difficult to discern what the heck that is. As was mentioned above the Phillips screw heads show signs of corrosion come super haps this is a very dense mold growth or some type of fungus that established itself and spread over the Years. It actually does not look like it will affect functionality in the least.
